Pollution:-

Pollution means to make something foul or filthy. In the modern times the word pollution has got wider meanings. It has become a symbol of destruction and decay. The scientists, the intellectuals and the governments have started considering it a threat for the survival of mankind as well as other living creatures. They say that environment is becoming extremely dirty with the passage of time.

Pollution is one the greatest problems that humanity faces today. Man’s survival on the earth has become uncertain because of the polluted conditions of life. The purity of air, land and water is destroying with every passing moment.

The cause of pollution are manifold. First, our factories and mills throw their poisonous wastes into the water resources. Secondly, these factories emit poisonous smoke which spoils the purity of atmosphere. Thirdly, the destruction of forests is another factor. Forests purify the atmosphere but the money-makers are destroying them recklessly. Fourthly, massive use of pesticides is damaging the environment.

Fifthly, modern means of transport are also aggravating the pollution problem. The smoke produced by them is a great hazard to life. Sixthly, nuclear or other weapons used in the wars defile the atmosphere. Seventhly, noise pollution is equally dangerous. The noise of machines, motors and music adversely affects the minds and creates psychological complications.

In our country pollution has become rampant. Most of our people are illiterate. They spread garbage here and there. They do not bother to keep their street or mohallah clean. Our people should cultivate a sense of keeping the environment pure and this is possible only through education.

So we conclude that pollution is a constant threat to man’s survival on this earth. Seminars and conferences cannot solve the problem. All activities that cause pollution should be curtailed. Unless and until the countries of the world make joint efforts, the dream of a pure world cannot come true. The problem demands urgency of action lest it should be too late.
