               Science has brought about revolution in human life. It has changed the whole pattern of our life. It is the basis of our modern civilization. Science has rendered a valuable service to humanity. It is a source of human happiness. Science is serving us in every field, whether it is health or education, industry or transport, communication or entertainment.

                The greatest of all the services of science is the maintenance of health. Diseases have been controlled. Antibiotics have been prepared to protect the people from the fatal maladies. Surgery has made much progress. Now the human heart, kidneys and other complicated organs can be operated upon and transplanted.

                In the field of agriculture, science has also brought about revolutionary changes. In the past, the peasants had to do a lot of hard work. Now the tractors, harvesters, threshers and other modern tools have made the work of the farmers less hard and less annoying. Moreover, the production of food has increased manifold. Now we can have different kinds of food thoughout the year. We can preserve food through different methods.

                Science has made the construction of buildings, roads, dams, railways etc. more convenient. Construction is now carried on by a number of machines. New technology in industry is being introduced as our industry largely depends upon machines.

                Similarly, Photostat machines, cameras, refrigerators, televisions, air-conditioners, computers have become a part and parcel of our life. Telephones, mobile phones, faxes and e-mails are a great advance in the fields of communication.

                In the past, man had to face many hardships while travelling from one place to another. Science has made it possible to cover thousands of miles in the shortest span of time.

                In short, science has placed at our disposal hundreds of time and labour saving devices. We are living a better and more comfortable life as compared to our predecessors.  However, scientists have also invented many harmful things for the destruction of mankind. It is better to use science for constructive rather than destructive purposes.
